Meet the Board

BERNADETTE DAVIS:

Bernadette Davis is a (nearly) lifelong resident of Delaware: Moving here from Ohio at the age of 6 months, Bernadette grew up in Pike Creek. She earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education Degrees from the University of Delaware, taught elementary school in Dover, coordinated outreach education for the Delaware Children’s Museum, and ran the children’s music ministry at St. Catherine of Siena Church. After raising two beautiful daughters, Bernadette completed a master’s degree in information science and currently works for the New Castle County Public Library System. As a reference librarian, Bernadette is skilled in online and in-person research, using and teaching digital resources, hiring and scheduling vendors, allocating department resources, and designing texts and graphics for program marketing, Bernadette and her husband, Bryan, moved to Augustine Ridge in October 2022. If you encounter one or both of them walking Luna (a very “solid” yellow lab) along Stone Tower Lane, she will try to convince you that she never gets any love or treats at home. Do not believe her.

Bernadette is interested in serving on the Augustine Ridge Board in order to get more involved with the community and to contribute to the upkeep of this beautiful neighborhood.

MARY DINEEN:

Mary is the original owner of 114 Stone Tower Lane and has resided in the community for over 30 years.    She graduated with a BS in Accounting from the University of DE and was employed by DuPont for 42 years.   For the last ten years of her employment, she was the Global Manager of Employee Benefit Policy and Design.  As part of this position, she led and participated in multiple committees and Boards.  She also handled many difficult plan changes and conversations with Executives, employees and retirees especially as the Company went through its merger/separation from Dow Chemical.

Since retirement Mary’s primary responsibilities focus on the care of her two older siblings who are in declining health.   If anyone needs any advice on how to approach this, she offers to be a resource.  Along with these caregiving responsibilities Mary has been Treasurer and member of the Board of ARSC for the last 5 years.

For the last 4 months Mary has worked closely with Jane Brooks, Julia McGough, Sally O’Byrne and Ed Sobel to review the Community’s By-Laws and Deed Restrictions.  This work included meeting with individual homeowners, learning about best practices and drafting and reviewing changes to these documents and the operating procedure improvements needed for the community going forward.  Mary supports the improvements to the ARSC Operating Procedures the committee will be recommending to the community, including but not limited to the following:

1)     Annual Board elections ensuring Quorums are met and that Proxy voting is required.

2)     Consistent communications to all residents including (as required) paper and/or electronic mail

3)     Creation of an internet portal for use by residents to view all community communications and documents.

4)     Regularly scheduled Board and Committee Meetings – open to community residents.

5)     Regular publishing of all Resident, Board and Committee Meeting minutes.

6)     Appointment of multiple residents to committees for Landscaping and Architectural oversight.

Mary is willing to participate in the Board for one more year to provide continuity as new members join.
